Somebody to love

Somebody (somebody) ooh somebody (somebody)
Can anybody find me somebody to love?

I work hard (he works hard) every day of my life
I work 'til I ache in my bones
At the end (at the end of the day)
I take home my hard earned pay all on my own
I get down (down) on my knees (knees)
And I start to pray
'Til the tears run down from my eyes
Lord, somebody (somebody), ooh somebody
(Please) can anybody find me somebody to love?

Okay everybody, I’ve got another high school flashback for you. Actually, longer than that. Amanda and I met at Calapooia Middle School way back in the early 2000’s, along with Brookann (see what happens when you keep in touch.. you get to do cool stuff). While I wasn’t one of the main people in the group (I often hopped from friend-group to friend-group at lunch time, depending on what year it was), I always could find a home with them. This trend continued in college as well (our friendship survived the accidental nose-punch… inside joke).

When I found out Amanda was engaged to her boyfriend Andrew, I couldn’t help but chuckle - that’s my husband’s name. I know it’s one of the most popular names on the planet, but still. Then I learned that they met the same way we did (T i n d e r). I was floored! Turns out if you are patient and are lucky as all get-out, you find your person.

I was really curious to get to know this guy and suss him out, y’know. When I go into sessions where I haven’t met the guy before, I honestly am not sure what to expect. Usually more often than not, they are cooperative, but holding back (which, I get, it’s awkward). Well. I was pleasantly surprised to have this Andrew in front of my camera. Genuinely engaging, taking direction, and just being a great conversationalist - I hit the jackpot with these two! (Especially since they brought Gatorade and ended up saving my hide… It was ungodly hot and muggy, and I underestimated how much I needed to hydrate after work. Oops…)

Long story short, it truly warmed my heart to see my friend in love.

I can’t wait for their big day - spoiler alert, I’ll be there.

-K.
