Say You Won’t Let Go

I'm so in love with you
And I hope you know
Darling, your love is more than worth its weight in gold
We've come so far, my dear
Look how we've grown
And I wanna stay with you until we're grey and old
Just say you won't let go
Just say you won't let go

I wanna live with you
Even when we're ghosts
'Cause you were always there for me when I needed you most

I'm gonna love you 'til
My lungs give out
I promise 'til death we part like in our vows
So I wrote this song for you, now everybody knows
That it's just you and me 'til we're grey and old
Just say you won't let go
Just say you won't let go

-James Arthur-

I think I met one of the happiest babies ever, last week. And I could have just eaten her up. But I was a responsible photographer-friend and didn’t snatch a baby for snuggles out of the blue…

I have known Alex for quite awhile - probably since middle school, technically. She rode my bus in school (and I rode the bus all the way through school… I didn’t get my license until I was 20). I remember once after I got into photography (this was probably my sophomore year), she had a really nice camera and I was eye-balling it, thinking “one day that will be me.”

As everyone does, we all follow our friends and acquaintances on Facebook (because what else are we supposed to do in this day and age, right?). I’ve been so proud to watch Alex grow and do all the adulting (buying and remodeling a house for one), and you bet your buns I was secretly hoping and wishing she’d ask me one day to take her photos. I mean, JUST LOOK AT HER BABY. Oh my heart.

I had so much fun running around Orchards park with Alex and Theron, though really the star of the show was Pontius. Andrew and P came with me and at first, Penelope was a bit nervous (we’re cat people). But as the evening went on, she relaxed and sat with me as snapped away.

One cool thing about my job is reconnecting with people and bringing two parts of my life together. Moving away from home, I definitely feel like I have the “old life,” vs. my current life. With my camera, I’m able to blend the two back together. With this shoot in particular, I had Penelope really come out and get involved (she had been begging to help me take pictures for days). She told us where to go, helped me with orientation and posing. Usually her normal job is to either play with dad, or get the kids’ attention - she stepped up to the plate and did a great job!

When I left the shoot I felt happy and fulfilled - feelings that are often fleeting this year. I’m so thankful for the opportunity and hope we can get together again someday.

-K.
